Top-seeded Djokovic to holiday in Maldives

World's top tennis player Novak Djokovic will arrive in the Maldives on Thursday with his family for vacation, media reports say.

The Serbian player faced defeat at the ATP World Tour Finals last week as he was eliminated from the season finale by compatriot and close friend Janko Tipsarevic.
Janko Tipsarevic of Serbia (L) embraces Novak Djokovic of Serbia (R) at the end of their group A singles match in the round robin stage on day six of the ATP World Tour Finals tennis tournament in London on November 25, 2011.

However, Djokovic and Tipsarevic are scheduled to travel to the Maldives this week with their families.

"I'm going to Maldives on Monday...hopefully with Novak!" Tipsarevic told AFP yesterday.
"He's going to come there on Thursday. I was telling you guys that we are close off court. I'm having dinner with the guy tomorrow, and I saw him this morning on breakfast."

The two will stay at an undisclosed resort island in the Maldives.

Djokovic has enjoyed one of the greatest runs in tennis history after winning the Australian Open, Wimbledon, the US Open and five Masters events, as well as replacing Rafael Nadal as world number one since July 4, 2011.

He is the first player to win 10 titles in a season since Roger Federer in 2006 and has recorded 70 wins from 76 matches.

The Maldives, known for its upmarket tourism industry, has attracted celebrities from all over the globe in recent years.
